Ascension Bay Summer Special |

This trip is highly recommended by Texas Fly Fishing News. We were there two years ago and caught snook and bones. We struck out on tarpon and permit. But the lodge is great, food is great, guides are excellent, the beach is fantastic and the fly fishing is great with numbers of bones and some very large snook. The only glitch is that it's about a three hour drive from Cancun. |

Fly Of The Month for the Louisiana Fly Fishers |

Coma Shrimp. Right now, the coastal waters are teeming with shrimp, and anything resembling a shrimp will work. That includes various charlies, bitters, Popovics Epoxy Shrimp, Cooks Critter, Crystal Shrimp, Cinco Shrimp, Incredible Edible, white or tan Seaducers, Borski's Swimming Shrimp, to name a few. About 13 years ago, I came across a small fly called the Cinco Shrimp, named after Bayou Cinco in Destin, where I fished under lights for specks. The Coma Shrimp is my beefed-up version of the Cinco, with elements of the Epoxy Shrimp (ultrahair) and Borger's Shrimp (tan dubbing). Tied on a size 2 hook, it better emulates the 15-30 count brown shrimp abundant during early summer. It doesn't have the action of the seaducer or charlies, but it's one of the best flies for trout under lights! Catch Cormier http://www.laflyfish.com/index.php |

The Timaru Herald - April 20, 2002 Otago Daily Times - April 13, 2002 New Zealand is famous for big trout - but these two fish are ridiculous. Of course they were caught downstream from the Mount Cook Salmon Farm where there is an overabundance of food. We will put you onto large fish - but not this size. But than again you will not have bus loads of tourists watching you fight your fish. |

Ranger Boats Banshee Extreme |
|
Friday, 25 July 2008 |
A Review of Ranger's New Shallow-Water Skiff Ranger has earned a solid reputation as one of the top manufacturers of production flats skiffs and bay boats. Their latest entry in that field — the Banshee Extreme — is sure to bolster that reputation. Built on the same bare-bones hull as the original Banshee, the Extreme lives up to its name. It is built for extreme shallow-water fishing like that along Florida's Mosquito Lagoon, Snake Bight in Everglades National Park or the skinny water along Texas' Laguna Madre — all places where you don't want to get stuck when the water leaves. |

How does one introduce a man that everyone already knows – or if you don’t know him personally, I’ll bet you’ve at least fished with one of his flies. As a hint - Lefty Kreh has caught 86 different species on his fly pattern, which has proven to be a major advancement in fly fishing. Helping fly anglers catch more fish while spreading his passion for the sport are but two of Bob Clouser’s many accomplishments in life. |
